Vehicle incident closing portion of the Coquihalla towards Hope

MERRITT – A vehicle incident has closed Highway 5, the Coquihalla, heading southbound to Hope.

According to DriveBC, the incident is between Exit 286: Merritt-97C and Exit: 183 Othello Road, which is causing all southbound lanes of traffic to be closed.

Those travelling north towards Merritt will still be able to get through as those lanes are open.

Officials said detour options include Highway 1 or Highway 3.

There is still the snowfall warning in effect for the highway on the way to Hope until this afternoon.
