This week Merritt was talking about the evacuation of Logan Lake, the Tremont Creek wildfire, surging COVID-19 cases in the Interior, and a reported Federal Election call this weekend.
Evacuation Order for Logan Lake; No lodging available in Merritt
LOGAN LAKE – The community of Logan Lake is being ordered to evacuate as the Tremont Creek wildfire moves towards the community.
Mayor Robin Smith made the declaration at 3:30 p.m. Thursday (Aug. 12).The order states RCMP will enforce the evacuation of the community.

Tremont Creek wildfire estimated at 38,000 hectares
The Tremont Creek wildfire has forced the entire community of Logan Lake to evacuate. The Thompson Nicola Regional District has also issued an evacuation order for 10 properties and an alert for 280 more to the east of town.
Dr. Fenton, Interior Health: ‘We’re seeing more cases than we’ve ever seen in the Interior’
KAMLOOPS — With COVID-19 cases rising, it’s unsure if the province will move forward with its reopening plan on September 7.
“We’re seeing more cases than we’ve ever seen in the Interior,” said Dr. Carol Fenton, medical health officer at Interior Health.

Report: Trudeau planning to call election for September
KAMLOOPS – Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is planning to send Canadians to the polls September 20. According to a Reuters news agency report, Trudeau will make the announcement Sunday.
