Man left hospitalized in Merritt shooting

Merritt RCMP are looking into a shooting that left one man hospitalized near the downtown area on Saturday night (Aug. 29).
Merritt RCMP said officers were dispatched at about 10:40 p.m. on Saturday to investigate reports of a gunshot in the Quilchena Avenue and Charters Street area.
Police officials said officers were called to a house in the 2300-block of Quilchena Avenue, where a man suffering from a gunshot wound entered the home.
The man was taken to Nicola Valley Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information can contact the Merritt RCMP detachment at 250-378-4262.
“Police are now seeking the public’s assistance with the investigation,” said Merritt RCMP officials.
“Residents and business owners in the area of Quilchena Avenue and Charters Street are asked to review their security camera footage for any suspicious activity that may be related to these incidents.”
