Weather Forecast from Environment Canada issued at 11:00 am on Sat. Aug 1.
Another day of wildfire smoke in the region today as Environment Canada has issued two weather alerts for the Nicola Valley area today.
As the smoke from the nearby Guichon Creek wildfire continues to billow into our region, Environment Canada has again issued an ORANGE Air Quality alert meaning residents can expect poor air quality and reduced visibility.
The following regions are being impacted or are likely to be impacted by wildfire smoke over the next 24-48 hours include:
- – 100 Mile
- – South Thompson
- – Nicola
- – Shuswap
- – North Okanagan
The Guichon Creek Wildfire is one of the 109 wildfires now being reported today and remains out-of-control.
Environment Canada has also issued a SPECIAL Weather Statement as strong southwest winds gusting to 70 to 80 km/h are expected this afternoon and evening over the southern Interior of British Columbia.
You are encouraged to secure any loose objects around your property and if you are outside today, watch for flying debris.
