Lower Nicola Indian Band urges residents to be ready in case of evacuation

Lower Nicola residents are being alerted that the LNIB is still monitoring the Ainslie Creek, Brunswick and Logan Lake wildfire and are asking residents to be prepared for community safety actions.

In a notice on social media posted just a few minutes ago, the announcement was says that emergency officials are assessing conditions and will provide further direction if community actions are required.

Residents are asked to stay informed, prepare calmly, and follow instructions from the Lower Nicola Indian Band Emergency Operations Team.

As of right now, the Lower Nicola Indian Band has declared a local state of emergency in the IR 8 Speous, IR#3 Pipsuel and #1 Nicola Mameet regions.

Residents should monitor the BC Wildfire Service website, Lower Nicola Indian Band Website and Facebook Page and Q101.ca and the Merritt Herald webpage.

Residents should begin preparing a grab and go bag, with identification, medications, essential documents, clothing, clothing, water, phone chargers and ear buds. Residents should also plan for family members, pers, livestock and anyone who may need assistance. You should also have your vehicles filled with fuel as well.
