Highway 1 closes between Boston Bar and Lytton due to wildfire

The Trans Canada Highway near Boston Bar is closed once again due to the nearby Brunswick Complex of fires.
In a post to social media shortly before 9:00 a.m. Thursday (July 16), DriveBC says the stretch of Highway 1 between Lytton and Boston Bar is only open to local traffic. All other drivers are told to use the Coquihalla Highway or Highway 3 as detours.
Highway 1 near Boston Bar was closed for a few days early in July due to wildfire. Since July 11, the highway reopened although drivers were not allowed to stop on the stretch between Boston Bar Station Road and Jackass Summit.

The Brunswick Complex of fires near Boston Bar are wildfires of note, with an estimated combined size of more than 19,000 hectares.
The wildfire service notes there was an increase in fire activity and behaviour within the Brunswick Complex on Wednesday. In an update Wednesday, the wildfire service adds that there’s a risk of gusts of up to 80 km/h and dry lightning in the area.
Additionally, smoke from the Brunswick Complex continues to be pushed by winds blowing to the northeast.
