Semi-truck fire causes delays along Coquihalla Highway south of Merritt

The Coquihalla Highway south of Merritt is once again open after a burning semi-truck led to a closure of the southbound lanes on Friday (July 3) afternoon.

According to DriveBC, the highway was closed for the 6.8 kilometres stretch between the Larson Hill and the Coldwater Road exists. Drivers were able detour via Highway 1 or Highway 3 as emergency crews responded to the scene.

It’s not clear what caused the vehicle to catch fire and no details of injury have been released.
