Good Friday was a great Friday for one Logan Lake resident after a quick stop to pick up a morning newspaper turned into a life-changing moment.
The BC Lottery Corporation (BCLC) says John M. is the province’s newest millionaire as he had a winning ticket from the April 3 Lotto Max draw. The Crown corporation says John’s ticket – with winning numbers 3 5 12 18 30 41 43 – was bought at the Esso on Ponderosa Avenue, and that he was “taken aback” when he learned of his win.
“I didn’t check the screen at first and asked for the win in fifties,” John recalled, in a statement released via BCLC. “The clerk laughed and said he couldn’t pay it out. I wasn’t expecting this at all. I didn’t believe it and I’m still not sure I believe it!”
He shared the news with his wife, who “was equally surprised and in disbelief,” and the pair also celebrated their windfall with their loved ones at a family BBQ.
“It’s unbelievable… surreal,” John added,
He plans to use some of his winnings to travel and maybe treat himself to a new car.
