Environment Canada Issues a Snowfall Warning for Coquihalla Merritt to Hope
Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning on the Coquihalla between Merritt and Hope for today.
The weather agency has issued a yellow alert for Highway 5 as a moist frontal system will bring continuous snow to the Coquihalla Summit, lasting until tonight.
Snowfall totals could reach between 30 and 40 cm by then, with the possibility of 10-15 cm today and another 5-10 cm expected before the snow eases overnight.
Travelling the Coquihalla will likely be challenging, as visibility will be reduced at times due to blowing and drifting snow.
Environment Canada has also issued a snowfall warning on the Trans-Canada between Rogers Pass and Eagle Pass, where 15-20 cm is expected.
