Port Moody donates rescue truck to Lytton Fire & Rescue
LYTTON — A gracious donation will bolster Lytton’s response to emergencies this year.
Lytton Fire & Rescue is now in possession of a rescue truck, graciously donated by the City of Port Moody.
Not having a dedicated rescue truck to service their large road rescue boundary has meant that Lytton Fire & Rescue has had to use their second engine with limited tool space and take an engine out of service for the community while responding to long rescue calls.
The new rescue truck will be used to respond to all medical aid, road rescue (motor vehicle incident), and general calls for service.
The truck has room to store a full complement of rescue and fire equipment.
With wildfire season approaching early the donation will help bolster the town’s defense against another potential disaster.
Years after the town was burnt down, the province is dealing with low snowpack and drought conditions.
Last year’s record breaking wildfire season has put the entire province on alert as they scramble to prepare for another potentially tough year.
Lytton is still in the proccess of trying to rebuild their town after the fires, much like Merritt is still dealing with the post-flood damage years later.
