Charles-Thomas Larochelle’s 8 game point streak before playoffs bodes well for Centennials
MERRITT — For veteran forward Charles Thomas Larochelle now is the perfect time to catch fire heading into the playoffs.
A day after turning 21 Larochelle did all he could in a 7-3 loss in Salmon Arm, scoring twice to tie the game at 1-1 and cut the lead to 3-2 Silverbacks.
He’s found the back of the net three times in his last four games, and is on an 8 game point streak with 4 goals and 4 assists during that span.
Before joining the Centennials Larochelle started his pro hockey career in Melville of the SJHL where he scored 12 goals and 32 points in 51 games.
The following season he would join the QMJHL playing for the Baie-Comeau Drakkar, who are one of the top teams in the CHL this season.
After a stint in Quebec he would join the Centennials in the off season. It was a big move for the forward, he was born in Quebec City.
Now Larochelle looks right at home with the Cents, with 25 points in 38 games. It’s good to see him performing well considering the injury issues he had to deal with at the beginning of the season.
“I felt cursed, ” said Larochelle at the midpoint of the season. “A lot of these injuries have been purely accidental, like getting hit by own teammates in practice or just freak plays in general.”
That curse seems to be a thing of the past during Larochelle’s current 8 game point streak.
The Centennials start their first postseason push next week after concluding the season with two regular season home games against Cranbrook and Prince George.
The Cents are still in a dogfight for 6th place in the Interior Conference and have yet to find out who their opponent will be in round one of the playoffs.
