Environment Canada warns of snowy weekend ahead on the Coquihalla

MERRITT, B.C. — Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the Coquihalla Highway looking ahead to the weekend.

The statement warns of heavy snow beginning Saturday on the stretch between Merritt and Hope.

The forecaster says snow will start Saturday, intensify throughout the day on Sunday before tapering off next Monday.

Drivers are advised to be ready to encounter reduced visibility, blowing snow and challenging driving conditions as snow accumulates quickly.
