MERRITT — Brian Passmore has added yet another 2005 born player with experience in the WHL. The Merritt Centennials have signed forward Ben Wright.
Passmore knows Wright from his days in Cowichan Valley as a young rookie. He also played in Estevan of the SJHL and with the Edmonton Oil Kings.
“Ben is a smart, mature player who has gained valuable experience in the WHL with the Oil Kings. I have known Ben for some time, he is a big kid, has high end character, has a great shot and has a work ethic that will fit in nicely with our team.”
“This signing brings Ben back home to BC, closer to family. We would like to welcome Ben and his family to the Centennials organization.”
Edmonton Oil Kings broadcaster Andrew Peard says “He’s big. He was tough to evaluate here as he never really got much of a chance to play above the 4th line. Good hands though, I think he has some skill to him. Really good kid, great family.”
Ben Wright is from Mill Bay on Vancouver Island, north of Victoria and south of Cowichan Valley.
