MERRITT — Merrittonians are finally weeks past the frigid temperatures that dropped well below Minus 30 Celsius.
While the weather eventually warmed up, locals were met with heavy amounts of snowfall, making driving conditions very difficult.
The snowfall was a huge issue for walkways around Merritt as well, with many seniors having to rely on the kindness of their neighbors to navigate through the dump of snow.
Now that the snowfall has mostly finished blanketing Merritt, the next weather adventure seems to be a week full of rainy wet conditions.

With a forecast looking almost “Coastal” rain is expected over most of next week as we head into early February 2024.
That poses a new challenge with walkways, not everyone drives and some Merrittonians with mobility assistance could find themselves in a bit of a pickle.
Particularly the construction near Voght street, where the pathways to get up the hill are virtually impossible with the snowfall that will soon turn into a slushy and wet mess.
While warmer temperature is welcomed, surely adversity is on the horizon for Merrittonians trying to get from Point A to Point B.
