Coquihalla South Highway 5 (Merritt to Hope) closed due to vehicle incident early Tuesday morning

MERRITT — A vehicle incident has the Coquihalla South Highway 5 (Merritt to Hope) closed early Tuesday morning, (6:00 a.m, Tuesday, January 16th.)

Crews are working on a vehicle recovery between Exit 286: Merritt – 97C and Exit 202: Portia for 84.5 km (11 km south of Great Bear Snowshed to Merritt) the road is closed.

There is currently an assessment in progress.

The police investigation is over while emergency crews are at work.

Drivers are being told to use an alternate route. Drivers should note that Highway 8 is not an alternate route.

The estimated time of re-opening is around 7:30 a.m, (Tuesday, Jan 16)
