One of his favorite hobbies was horseback riding, and in his youth he always took horseback rides on a farm, or on the shore near the Cauca River.
Efraín Antonio Ríos García was born in the countryside of the town of Fredonia, a part of Antioquia, Colombia on April 4th, 1910.
He experienced both World Wars at the age of 8 years old and 34.
Ríos García married Herminia Uribe. The couple had 18 children. They were married for a jaw dropping 80 years.
He had over 80 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
Also as of April 2023, ten of his 18 children were alive.
After his passing, the world’s second-oldest man (with confirmed age) is now 112-year-old Gisaburō Sonobe of Japan.
The world’s oldest man remains Juan Vicente Pérez Mora of Venezuela, age 114.
