Threats of Violence and Dangerous Incidents have Merrittonians on edge
MERRITT — Many incidents around Merritt, particularly the central area of the city have had locals on edge heading into 2024.
A couple of Merrittonians who wish to remain anonymous have reported being “called out to stop walking away or running” while trying to get from Point A to B, the incidents happened during the dark hours of the day late at night/early in the morning. Both were separate occurrences.
On Wednesday, January 3rd workers at the the local Canco where Pizza Pizza operates were threatened by multiple people walking into their store after dark, with violence and threats being uttered towards staff.
Thursday, January 4th it was reported a man by Ranchland Villa Motel was running around shirtless towards the median throwing large rocks at vehicles with some successfully hitting cars.
The local (who reported the incident) says Canco staff confirmed “the same man threatened to stab a shopper” a day prior pulling out a kitchen knife.
