MERRITT — Well, there was little doubt that Michael Felsing would make the BCHL All Star team and yesterday (November 30, 2023,) that was confirmed.
After a vote was conducted with coaches and general managers from the 17 BCHL teams, the league has announced the initial rosters for the 2024 All-Star Tournament in Penticton on the outdoor rink.
Each team has one skater represented on the initial roster, plus an additional two goaltenders were voted in from each conference.
The rosters will eventually be split into four teams of six skaters and one goaltender and will compete in a 3-on-3 tournament outdoors.
Felsing is one point behind the leading point getter in the BCHL Caden Cranston of the Surrey Eagles and is averaging games 1.27 points per game. Felsing has 7 goals and 21 assists which is good for 28 points in 22 games this season. He’s also on a tear lately with 9 points in 6 games but that seems to be the norm for him.
It’s been a solid couple of weeks for Felsing. His team is 3-1-1 in their last five games and he recently committed to play NCAA division 1 hockey at Robert Morris University for the 2024/25 season. It’s the goal of every young player playing in the BCHL, a league that has been a great pathway to the NCAA.
The All-Star game will be played in Penticton, January 19th. The All-Star game will be played at 6 p.m. then January 20th the Skills Competition will take place from 11 a.m to 3 p.m.
The remaining roster spots will be decided by a fan vote, starting December 1st, fans will have until Thursday, Dec. 7 to vote in an additional player from their favourite team.
