MERRITT — Interior Community Services (ICS) had a successful turnout Friday (Oct 27) as they handed out chili, hand warmers, coffee, donuts and donated clothing at Spirit Square in downtown Merritt.
The Interior Community Services are based in Merritt, the event was part of their community inclusion program. The whole premise of the event was to give back to the community, and Merrittonians all took advantage of the brisk but sunny weather and the food and clothing that were offered.
The event ran from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. (Oct 27) and most of the food and warm clothes were given out to community members in need, or even locals strolling through that were just looking for a nice hot meal or drink.
Everything that was supplied came from community partners that had donated to the cause. McDonalds and Kekuli Cafe had donated coffee for the event.
Look for Interior Community Service to be putting on more events as winter kicks into high gear.
