Small Fire behind No Frills subdued over the Weekend

MERRITT — If you saw smoke late Saturday night in Merritt, that was due to a small bush fire on River Ranch Rd south of Forksdale Avenue.

The fire took place behind No Frills and was quickly doused by Merritt Fire and Rescue.

The small blaze never reached more than 0.5 hectares and was only a minor threat to nearby neighborhoods.

The cause of the fire was thought to be human caused by a nearby encampment.
