MERRITT — The NVCAC art exhibit will be putting a showcase for local talen “Wyatt Collins”
The showcase “Our Tmixw – Celebrating the Land We Are On” is planned for September 14 – October 15. Wyatt, an Nłeʔkepmx artist in our community, navigates the world of autism. He’s ready for his second show at our NV Gallery. His first art show with us was in 2018 when Wyatt was just 20 years old, “Welcome to Wyatt’s World”.
Wyatt has painted two Nłeʔkepmx pictograph inspired designs called “All Children Are Loved” that are tributes to National Day of Truth and Reconciliation, a day that is now recognized as a Statutory holiday on September 30th. Both pictograph paintings will be on display, as well as orange t-shirts and hoodies with these inspired logos (t-shirts and hoodies will be available for sale.)
Art cards of current and past show paintings will also be available, along with some stories of how his art has been created.
Gallery Curator, Jano Howarth says, “I am happy to have Wyatt back in our Gallery to show the art he has been working on. This show was planned at this time of year to bring attention to this thoughtful day of Truth and Reconciliation on September 30th, and we hope that this young artist can bring an extra focus to it in our community.”
