Voght Street Upgrade Begins

MERRITT — The City will commence upgrades on Voght Street from Blackwell Avenue to the Nicola Valley Hospital entrance (in mid-September 2023.) The road work is expected to take about a year to complete, around fall of 2024.

Traffic disruptions of single-lane, alternating traffic is expected.  Short-duration detours along Parker and Juniper will be announced when required. Survey and general layout work may be seen on-site prior to mid-September.

Part Two of the Voght Street upgrade will continue the main alignment work from the hospital entrance to Belshaw Street/River Ranch Road when funding becomes available.

Part Three of the road improvements will cover the roundabouts at two intersections: Grimmett Street and Walters Street. The entire project includes active transportation pathways, water, sewer, storm drains, as well as paving.

There will also be a cul-de-sac closed to traffic September 8th.

There will be a temporary road closure at the cul-de-sac at the end of Burgess Road on September 8, 2023, from 4:30 p.m to 8:00 p.m, for a local community Block Watch event.
