MERRITT —As smoke continues to blanket most of Merritt today officials remind residents to take is easy if they are venturing outside.
People with lung or heart disease, older adults, children, pregnant people, and people who work outdoors are at higher risk of experiencing health effects caused by wildfire.
Environment Canada recommends people take a break from the smoke at a location in their community. Libraries around the city are a great place to escape the smoke.
Most of the smoke is coming from the Ross Moore lake fire by Kamloops, the fire is not considered a threat to the city of Merritt.
