The 2023 Bass Coast Music Festival is in the books and according to revelers and organizers alike it was a huge success.
The event was under constant threat of thunderstorms and severe weather watches, went off without a hitch as thousands descended on the Nicola Valley for the four-day event.
The popular musical weekend has been bringing both local and international artists to the area featuring a variety of genres such as hip hop, new age, techno, and funk.
“This is my fourth Bass Coast event here (Merritt) and this by far was the biggest and best,” Isaac G. of Golden told Q101 news. “They always seem to add something new to the event which keeps us guessing year-after-year. “.
Bass Coast moved to the Nicola Valley from Squamish in 2013 and consistently sells out months in advance.
“It’s just a combination of music, friends and this spectacular scenery that brings us back to Bass Coast in Merritt every year,” Brittney D. from Whistler added. ” We were sad when the festival moved from Squamish but coming to Merritt and experiencing the hospitality here makes me think the organizers knew what they were doing coming to Merritt.”
There is no word on how much of an economic impact the festival will have on the area but one store owner said their establishment saw a definite increase in business.
“It’s been a busy but profitable week,” said the owner who asked their business not be identified. “We’ve seen lots of fresh faces the past few days and even some people we only see during the Bass Coast weekend so its been great.”
