Cents sign second European player

MERRITT – The Merritt Centennials have signed another player, the teams second coming from Europe.

Forward Alex Stepanek from Czechia will be joining the Cents for the upcoming season.

“As a competitor, Alex wants to win and is determined to show the BCHL, NCAA, and the City of Merritt his skill set and work ethic,” said the Centennials.

The 19-year-old played in 35 games last season, spread between three different leagues in Finland, putting up 6 goals and 11 assists for 17 points.

With the BCHL going independent, teams are allowed to have two non-American players on the roster. Stepanek, Czechia, will join Martins Kruklitis, Latvia, on the Centennials.
