MERRITT – The Merritt Centennials have made another trade in an offseason that is starting to heat up for the team.
The Cents have acquired forward Michael Stenberg from the Chilliwack Chiefs in exchange for future considerations.
The 18-year-old split last season between the United States Hockey League and the BCHL, with the Chilliwack Chiefs. In 27 games with the Chiefs, Stenberg scored 4 goals and added in 9 assists for 13 points.
Stenberg, the Needham Massachusetts native, is also committed to play for Providence College in NCAA Division 1.
“Michael is an intense hard-working player, he plays a physical game, is good on the forecheck, and strong on the boards,” said Head Coach and Assistant General Manager, Brian Passmore. “Michael’s experience will prove valuable to our team this season. We believe he is ready to have an outbreak in offensive production this season in Merritt.”
