MERRITT – Those looking for more searching tips to find Sasquatch have the perfect opportunity to do so.
The Nicola Valley will be hosting it’s first ever Bigfoot Conference. The one-day conference will include special guest speakers and vendors.
“The people that we have coming include Blaine McMillan, an author who has have his own encounter, Jason Zakrisson, same thing, and there’s a lovely lady coming up from Washington State named Judy Carrol, she will be teaching a course on how you can better communicate with sasquatch,” said Sheldon Quewezance, local podcaster and organizer of the conference. “It’s going to be a wide range of guests, but the underlying theme of the conference is what we have learned from Sasquatch and what Sasquatch can teach us. I’m hoping that when people leave the conference that day they will have a little more knowledge than when they came. We have some vendors coming selling shirts, artwork, knives, fishing lures, camo gear and just a wide variety of stuff.”
With only seven vendors currently committed to the conference, the organizer is pushing for more to attend the event. If any vendor wants more information, email squewezance@gmail.com or visit the Facebook page, ‘Looking for Bigfoot’.
Quewezance shares his past experiences and what drove him to begin this journey.
“What happened was my friends, my brother, and I were out in the woods close to Merritt, I won’t give out exact locations, but we went out looking for Sasquatch clues, whether that be prints or tree structures. We weren’t really expecting anything and we were debating what we were going to do for the rest of the night. We were close to going home but lo and behold over to the east of us there was this thing peeking from behind the tree. It had its giant hand wrapped in front of it kind of using it as leverage and it had its head poking out of the side. It was really black, like even as the light hit it, it almost absorbed the light that’s kind of how to describe it. It was life changing.”
That situation was Quewezance’s lone time allegedly spotting Bigfoot but he shared another story of a potential encounter.
” I was out one night with my friends again and we were actually looking for audio clips looking for howls or screams or anything like that and we got nothing that night and as we were driving away it was an old forest road that wasn’t being used anymore something hit our truck something threw a clump of mud at the truck and keep in mind we were out looking for recording so I had a recorded in my hand so after this clump of mud hit the truck I got my friend to stop and I got out and I walked around to the back of the truck to look what it was and in the tree line 20 feet away from me something screamed at me and it reverberated through my entire body I had a recorder in my hands my thumb was less than an inch away from the button and the last thing on my mind was to push that button I was more in awe of what just happened and by the time I realized what I was doing I had no interest I just wanted to get out of there
With all of the technology in todays day and age and still the lack of credible siting’s, Quewezance believes that people need to respect the big beasts more.
“I think first and foremost you have to give Sasquatch more credit. They are well aware if you enter into their forest, they know that you are there, much like you would know if someone came into your house unexpected.”
