Construction resumes at Smith Pioneer Park

LOWER NICOLA – Construction resumes on the Smith Pioneer Park in Lower Nicola.

Even though construction is starting up again, officials said the park will remain open but advise residents to give crews space to work.

A new bandshell is currently being constructed to complete phase one of the improvements in Smith Pioneer Park.

Work already completed in phase one includes:

• New playground surface
• New picnic shelters
• Pickleball lines added to the tennis courts
• Other minor improvements

Upgrades still to come to the park in phase two include:

• New basketball court
• Outdoor fitness equipment
• Improvements to walking path and parking lot

All of these improvements have been funded by the Canada Community Building Fund.
