MERRITT — Merritt area residents will have to deal with another temporary closure of the Nicola Valley Hospital’s Emergency department Monday (Mar. 13).
In a news release Sunday evening, Interior Health announced the move, saying a physician vacancy is creating the closure from 7 a.m. Monday to 8 a.m. Tuesday.
It advises residents in need of emergency services to visit the Emergency department at the Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops.
Those who require life-threatening care due to chest pains, severe bleeding and other severe conditions, should call 911 for treatment from paramedics and transportation to the appropriate medical facility.
While the Emergency department will be closed, Interior Health says all other inpatient services will continue as normal at Nicola Valley Hospital.
