Merritts’ Barley among 50 B.C. candidates sanctioned for failing to file statements with Elections B.C.

VICTORIA — Elections B.C. has released its list of candidates in the 2022 municipal election who will be sanctioned for failing to file financial disclosure statements.
Among the 50 candidates is Merritt council candidate Jay Barley, who finished 14th out of 17 entrants, garnering 171 votes.
Dean Clifford, who ran for mayor of Clearwater, and Francois Lambert, who ran for council in Kamloops, were also listed.
The 50 people on the list will be prohibited from seeking office until after the next municipal election in 2026.
