City of Merritt putting on a day of fun heading into the new year

MERRITT – With the holidays upon us, residents can start planning for a New Years celebration and the City of Merritt is helping.

On Saturday, December 31, there is a full day of activities for residents to take part in.

Starting at the Nicola Valley Aquatic Centre (NVAC), there is family swim, free admission between 12:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m..

Right after that, head next door to the Nicola Valley Memorial Arena for a game between the Merritt Centennials and the Salmon Arm Silverbacks. Puck-drop is 2:00 p.m..

Once the game is over, there will be a banquet taking place at the Civic Centre. Between 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m., there will be a dance and an early balloon drop to head into the new year.

Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at either the Civic Centre or NVAC.
