MERRITT – The deadline is coming up soon for the Grants in Aid application process for the City of Merritt.
“These groups could apply for up to $500/year and this must be a non-profit organization,” said Kim Mullin, Communications + Engagement Manager with the City of Merritt.
The plan for the grant is to help the community through any way the organization sees fit.
“It’s basically to help, whatever that business is, the community,” said Mullin. “So the whole idea is that the City wants to support our community and non-profit groups to make the city a better place to live.”
When it comes to the applicants, Mullin said there are some regulations to ensure that not everyone in the community is applying for the grant.
“We request they come in and are vetted by staff and then presented to mayor and council for their input and approval, so it’s not open to everyone, they have to be approved.”
Application forms can be found on the City’s website and the deadline to apply is December 20.
