Winter storm warning put into place for the area

MERRITT – Environment Canada has placed a winter storm warning for the Coquihalla Highway and the Okanagan Connector.
Officials are predicting snowfall between 20-35 cm over the span of today (November 29) to tomorrow (November 30).
“A low pressure system will move onto Vancouver Island today,” said Environment Canada. “Light snow will begin this afternoon and intensify tonight before ending early Wednesday afternoon. Wind gusts up to 60 km/h on the Okanagan Connector will give reduced visibility in blowing snow.”
Residents travelling in the Direction of Kelowna or Hope are asked to drive safe and be prepared before you head out. Officials encourages everyone to make an emergency plan and and get an emergency kit with drinking water, food, medicine, a first-aid kit, and a flashlight.
