MERRITT – Environment Canada has placed a winter storm watch for the Coquihalla Highway and the Okanagan Connector.
“A strong Pacific frontal system is forecast to move into the southern interior late Saturday bringing snow and strong winds,” said Environment Canada. “The snow will be heaviest Saturday night, especially for the coastal passes where accumulations of more 20 cm are likely. Southwest winds gusting to 60 km/h will also create poor visibility in blowing snow.”
Residents travelling in the Direction of Kamloops, Kelowna, or Hope are asked to drive safe and be prepared before you head out. Officials encourages everyone to make an emergency plan and and get an emergency kit with drinking water, food, medicine, a first-aid kit, and a flashlight.
Before deciding to head out, always check DriveBC.
