Red Cross supporting small businesses and not-for-profit organizations

MERRITT – Support for small businesses and not-for-profit organizations is being extended by the Canadian Red Cross.
“Our experience has shown that small businesses and not-for-profit organizations play a vital role in the long-term recovery of individuals and communities following an emergency,” said Pat Quealey, Vice-President, British Columbia and Yukon, Canadian Red Cross. “Thanks to the support of our donors, this assistance will help those small businesses and not-for- profit organizations impacted by the 2021 flooding and extreme weather event, and ultimately the individuals and families who rely on their services.”
Small businesses and not-for-profit organizations can apply for recovery support of $5,000 to help with expenses including:
- Uninsured direct loss
- Damage
- Lost equipment
- Lost inventory
- Insurance deductibles
- Specialized clean-up costs
- Ongoing expenses
- Rent
- Utilities
This program is being run by the Canadian Red Cross to help those who have been impacted by the floods that began on November 14, 2021.
Applications must be completed and submitted by November 30, 2022.
