A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for the Nicola region

A severe thunderstorm watch has been put in effect for the Nicola region among others.

“Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing heavy rain,” said Environment Canada. “Hail is also possible. Strong wind gusts are also possible. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.”

The watch is in effect for the following regions:

• Nicola
• Boundary
• Okanagan Valley
• Shuswap
• Similkameen
• South Thompson
