Telethon Raises Nearly One Million Dollars
Over $937-thousand dollars and still growing.
That’s how much has been raised so far through the Hell Or High Water Telethon held earlier this month.
The 12-hour online telethon was a fundraiser to support the British Columbia communities including Merritt and people impacted by last summer’s wildfires and November’s floods.
Greg Girard, co-organizer of the Merritt portion of the program discussed the amount raised so far. He told Q101 news that there were several donations on the way and that cheques received have not been added to the total yet.
Girard expressed his gratitude to all who supported the March 13th event.
“I can’t tell you how proud I am of this community,” Girard beamed.” Everyone from the performers, volunteers, guest hosts and the City of Merritt itself were terrific to work with.
Girard added he hopes a final tally can be announced in a few weeks.
