COVID-19: Hospitalizations back down in B.C. after Wednesday’s brief uptick

VICTORIA — After a rare increase, hospitalization due to COVID-19 is back on the downswing in B.C.
According to the Thursday (Mar. 24) surveillance report from the province’s Ministry of Health, there are 255 people in hospital with the virus, a decrease of three from Wednesday. There are 52 people in intensive care, up by three.
Six more people have died of the virus, including one in Interior Health. The overall B.C. death toll from COVID-19 is now 2,981.
The province registered 271 new cases Thursday, including 96 in Interior Health.
There are four active healthcare facility outbreaks in B.C., including Hillside Village in Salmon Arm.
