COVID-19: B.C. sees 14 more deaths; hospitalization decreases slightly

VICTORIA — Even as COVID-19 restrictions have eased in B.C., the virus is still taking lives in the province.
The latest surveillance report from the province’s Ministry of Health shows 14 more COVID-19 deaths over the past three days, increasing the overall B.C. death toll to 2,946. Two of the weekend’s deaths were reported in Interior Health.
There are 359 people in hospital with COVID-19, a decrease of nine from Friday. That includes 51 in intensive care, an increase of five.
Provisional data suggests B.C. recorded 689 new positive cases over the past 72 hours, with 150 of them found in Interior Health.
Vaccination rates:
- First dose — five and older: 90.7 per cent
- Second dose — five and older: 86.8 per cent
- Third dose — 12 and older: 56.7 per cent
