Kamloops man pleaded guilty to stealing a vehicle
A Kamloops man who stole and then crashed a vehicle on the Coquihalla has pleaded guilty.
“On May 18, 2021, Merritt RCMP front line officers responded to a vehicle that had crashed into the center median on Highway 5 near Merritt. Through investigation officers determined the vehicle was stolen and the driver was arrested without incident,” wrote Sgt. Josh Roda.
Early in February, Patrict Lafferty pleaded guilty to one count of theft of a motor vehicle. He received one day in jail, was credited with 90 days pre-sentence time and 12 months probation.
Merritt woman charged for committing a home invasion
Randi Tancsa was charged with unlawfully being in a dwelling house, assault with a weapon, possess weapon for a dangerous purpose and mischief.
“On November 8, 2021, Merritt RCMP front line officers were called to an apartment building on Quilchena Avenue after a woman had allegedly broke into an apartment wielding a baton and assaulting the lone resident inside. The incident was caught on surveillance cameras and the woman responsible was identified as another resident of the building. Officers located the woman and arrested her,” wrote Sgt. Roda.
She is set to appear in Merritt Court on February 15, 2022.
