Work progressing along Highway 8

The BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure has been working along Highway 8 between Merritt and Spences Bridge since the flooding in mid-November.

In an update, the team working on the stretch of road stated that work is being undertaken at 23 sites, with temporary access constructed at two sites and work started at another six. Work on the other 15 sites is scheduled to start in the new year.

“We are making significant progress on highway repairs, working west from Merritt,” reads the release. “Work has been initiated at Site 6 (20km east of Spences Bridge) and continues at Site 5 (21km east of Spences Bridge). Work is expected to continue into early January. Residents in this area can expect updates about access very soon.”

The Ministry is planning to hold information meetings to share more details about the long-term schedule and forecast for highway 8 repairs.
