B.C. reports more than 9,000 new COVID-19 cases over weekend
VICTORIA – The B.C. Ministry of Health is reporting 9,332 new cases of COVID-19 over the New Year’s weekend. The province released the preliminary figures Monday afternoon in a news release.
From Friday to Saturday there were 4,033 new cases. From Saturday to Sunday there were 3,609 new cases. And from Sunday to Monday there wer 2,230 new cases.
When broken into regional health authority areas, there were:
* 1,185 new cases in Interior Health;
* 4,859 new cases in Fraser Health;
* 1,797 new cases in Vancouver Coastal Health;
* 374 new cases in Northern Health;
* 1,117 new cases in Island Health.
The province will return to regular reporting Tuesday Jan. 4. B.C. Minister of Health Adrian Dix will be joined by Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry for the afternoon news conference.
