Municipal facilities see minor impacts from new COVID-19 restrictions
The City of Merritt is announcing that in accordance with the new public health restrictions, the Aquatic Centre Fitness Room will be closed, but the pool will remain open.
Merritt’s Director of Corporate Services Greg Lowis explained that the new restrictions won’t impact the City as much as previous waves.
“That is by far in a way, the biggest impact the restrictions will have on Merritt facilities. The pool will remain open for regular operations. My understanding is that the NVMA can continue in operation as well,” said Lowis. “This will cause an impact to city operations, but not as big as one as it could of.”
The fitness centre will remain closed until the restrictions are lifted, scheduled for January 18 at 11:59 pm.
No changes are expected at City Hall, however the new restrictions may effect the number of people allowed in the chambers at the next meeting.
“We have a meeting scheduled for January 11th, when this order will still be in effect, so we will have to look what that means for public attendance at that meeting,” added Lowis.
