Merritt lifts boil water advisory
The City of Merritt was able to finally lift the boil water advisory for the town Wednesday evening.
“Interior Health confirmed today (Wednesday December 8th) that the drinking water was of sufficient quality to be drunk without further processing at home,” reads a press release.
While there remain some homes who do not have municipal water or sewer available, for those who are connected to the municipal system, Public Works crews advise:
•Remove aerators from taps
•Change any water filters under sinks or attached to refrigerators
•Run the cold tap for 2 minutes to flush the lines.
Once this has been done, there are no concerns with water from the municipal supply.
“This is wonderful news, and an important step on this long road to recovery which we will walk together,” said Mayor Linda Brown.
