Two donation depots open in Merritt for flood victims
Food Bank at NVIT (credit - SD58)
There are currently two donation centres in Merritt collecting goods for those in need following the devastating flood two weeks ago.
The Food Bank and the School District are offering services of food, clothing, water, and some household items at the NVIT gym from 12-4pm. (4155 Belshaw St.)
Crossroads Church is also offering donated items out to community members from their facility at 2990 Voght St. They have food items, water, and are expecting cleaning supply buckets for allocation today.
Currently Crossroads is planning on being open 9-4 daily until Thursday and they will update their longer-term schedule again after that.
Both depots are planning to be operating until they are no longer needed but it’s a good idea to monitor their Facebook pages to see if there are any changes, requests, or need for volunteers to help.
If anyone is looking to make a donation and doesn’t know where to reach out, they can email donations@merritt.ca
