SD58 schools to remain closed for foreseeable future

With the vast majority of Merritt residents evacuated to Kamloops, Kelowna, or anywhere else in B.C, and Princeton facing severe flooding as well, schools in the district will remain closed for the foreseeable future.
School District 58 Nicola Similkameen Superintendent Steve McNiven informing parents Monday evening, that schools will not be opening.
“Due to ongoing flooding and transportation concerns Merritt schools will be closed until a further update can be provided. We will continue to monitor conditions and provide an update as soon as possible. We hope all our students, staff and family members are staying safe,” wrote McNiven.
The district hopes to provide a more detailed update and timeline in the days ahead.
