Merritt RCMP working to save those still in town
While most Merritt residents evacuated the town Monday, many chose to stay behind and now some are in need of help.
The Merritt RCMP remains in full force in the municipality and Sgt. Josh Roda confirms they’re being called out to rescue those still in their homes.
“We have and are still rescuing evacuees from homes, most that refused to leave during the order and are now stuck in the flood,” wrote Roda.
Some residents have expressed concerns over the possibility of looting in the city, but Roda states the detachment is at full capacity patrolling the town.
“Residents can be assured that the Merritt RCMP is functioning at full capacity and then some,” added Roda. “Our officers have and will continue to work tirelessly around the clock to ensure people and properties are safe and secure.”
