Three concurrent COVID-19 outbreaks now active at Royal Inland Hospital

KAMLOOPS — Interior Health has confirmed a third outbreak of COVID-19 at Royal Inland Hospital (RIH) in Kamloops.
The outbreak was not included in releases to media on Wednesday (Nov. 10), but is listed on the Interior Health active facility outbreak page.
IH says the outbreak was declared Wednesday on 6 South.
The first active outbreak at RIH was declared on Nov. 2 on 5 South, a medical unit. The second active outbreak was declared on Monday (Nov. 8) on 7 North, a medical unit treating cardiac and renal patients.
On Tuesday, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry told CFJC Today she is concerned about visitors contributing to introduction and spread of COVID-19 at RIH.
The province responded by implementing temporary visitor restrictions.
