Merritt’s Roger Sloan is in Japan this weekend, competing in the Zozo Championship.
It was a fairly uneventful opening round for the PGA Pro, with just one birdie and one bogey on his card through 15 holes. Unfortunately, two bad holes at the end of his round, a bogey on 16 and 17, have Sloan at 2-over after round 1.
The field in Japan is not particularly deep, with only 78 golfers making the trip overseas, which should allow Sloan to still make the weekend with a solid round 2.
Fellow Canadian MacKenzie Hughes shot an even-par opening 18.
Sloan will be teeing off for round 2 at 4:30 pm tonight (Thursday).
