Special Weather Statement for local highways – October 8/21

Special weather statement in effect for:

• Coquihalla Highway – Hope to Merritt
• Coquihalla Highway – Merritt to Kamloops
• Okanagan Connector – Merritt to Kelowna

A frontal system moving across the British Columbia Interior will give snow to most southern highway passes during the Thanksgiving long weekend. Precipitation from the system will start as rain on Saturday afternoon, and then as snow levels drop, it will change to snow on Saturday night or Sunday morning. The snow is expected to continue through Sunday evening. Total snow accumulations of 10 to 15 cm can be expected with the highest amounts over higher elevations.

Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions.
